Learning experiences - International Business

From this 12 days trip, i gain a lot of valuable experiences on international business.

Point 1

Before setting up a business in a foreign land, eg. China, make sure that one knows the country well enough (or i should say the place that one is setting the business as a country like China is soooooo big). Different province will have different taste and preference. To find out more about the place, one can try staying in that area for a certain period of time to experience the way of life there, the local's need ....... So from there, one will be able to understand the people there better thus, ensuring higher chances of setting up your business successfully.

Point 2

Next, it will be the most important thing for business that are dealing with import and export, which is government policies. One need to find out about the tax issues on import and export, This will help one to save cost and not to violate the rules.

Point 3

A businessman need to have an open mind. This allows one to adapt to the new environment quickly and also accept ideas and strategies given. (don rule out all the possible ideas and strategies until they really cannot be used) Meaning must also be flexible, don't try to attempt the impossible when it is not possible. (eg. if that certain product cannot sell, then try to sell a different product to the local and maybe that will be what the local wants)

As all of us know that China is known for its cheap raw material and labour.

Point 4
Can search for resources need for its production if the business is base on manufacturing. Eg the Material City is place where there are a variety of materials in term of different industries.
place for sourcing (Material City)

Point 5

As for labour, when they are treated well, they will work harder for the company. For instance in one of the company we visited, Aztech. Each worker there are given a picture of a bunch of grapes. When ever the worker has done well or did something wrong, a colour will be coloured on one of the grape depend on the performance. As workers come from all over china, they were given accommodation.

Point 6

When handling customers, the attitude towards them are very important. This can also result in whether u are able to keep that particual customer. If the customer likes the way u are doing business with them, they will surely come back to buy from u. Sometimes they may even recommend u to other people. However, the quality must good, if not no matter how good your attitude is, they also will not come back. From here, u will receive a form of free advertising from your customer.

Point 7

In doing business, there will always be competition. To ensure that the business remain competitive, one have to keep improving the product to maintain the competitiveness in that industry. In order to do so, the worker need to be sent to workshops to upgrade their skills, thus also ensure that they become more efficient in handling their tasks.
